Buying a home in Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake is the reservoir on the Guadalupe River northwest of New Braunfels, and the communities that grew up around its shoreline. It's a lake-and-hills lifestyle: boat ramps, parks, the river below the dam and neighborhoods tucked into the hills.
Homes range from weekend cabins and older lake houses to newer builds with big views and properties on acreage. Many neighborhoods sit on steep, rocky lots, and some have their own HOA rules, road maintenance arrangements or water providers, so two homes a mile apart can live very differently.
Most of the area is served by Comal ISD. Plan on about 25 to 35 minutes to New Braunfels depending on which side of the lake you're on.

- Confirm the water provider or well situation for the exact lot
- Check HOA or deed restrictions on short-term rentals and building
- Look at road access and who maintains it
